Regarding My Candidacy and Commitment to Serve on the USD 231 Board of Education
When I entered this race, it was because I believe our schools deserve leaders who unite our community, not divide it — leaders who show up, listen, and lead with integrity. After I moved to another part of the Gardner-Edgerton school district, I initially believed that meant I couldn’t serve if elected.
But after the recent forums, it became clear how deeply our district needs honest, hopeful, and forward-looking leadership. So I revisited the Kansas statutes and I found that there is a clear legal path that allows me to serve. If I am elected, I will not resign. I will serve.
That decision represents new hope for our teachers, students, and families who are tired of fear-driven politics. The current board has been marked by absentee leadership, anti-LGBTQ rhetoric, and censorship that drives our district backward. Gardner-Edgerton deserves better. Together, we can build a district defined by inclusion, transparency, trust and outstanding education and staff.
The future of our schools depends on leaders who show up for every student, every family, and every teacher. That’s the kind of leadership I intend to bring to USD 231.

Special Education
USD 231 currently has to take $6 million out of the General Fund every year to supplement special education services due to lack of state funding. This takes away from every student and staff member. We need a strong advocate on our school board to work with our representatives to change their votes on special education. I have the experience and education to make this happen.

Student Success
Our community is tired of seeing our School Board in the news for all the wrong reasons. It’s time we start focusing on what our students need to be successful in college and careers. I’d be honored to bring my experience in higher education and as an entrepreneur to the table and lead the way to student success.

Source of Information
The Gardner-Edgerton Community deserves to know what’s going on with the school board. I’m committed to transparent leadership, providing clear and concise information on school-related news at the local, state, and federal levels. Private social media groups are an ineffective and undemocratic way to govern or lead.
